Eight-year-old Itisha Mahara from the remote district of Darchula has been diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and is currently receiving treatment at Kanti Children’s Hospital in Kathmandu. She’s now staying at Leo’s Kids K-Flat in Dhapasi, in a room generously sponsored by one of our incredible supporters.
Itisha is the daughter of Jahendra Singh, a hardworking farmer, and her mother Radha. She has siblings back home and was attending Grade 4 at Darchula Public School before her diagnosis.
Her cancer journey began with persistent fever, back pain, leg pain, and a loss of appetite. After visiting the district hospital, her parents were told there was an issue with her blood and were referred to Kanti for further evaluation. There, their worst fears were confirmed—it was cancer.
Despite everything she’s been through, Itisha keeps her bright smile and finds joy in watching TV and playing games during breaks from treatment. Her strength and courage inspire us all.
Let’s rally around Itisha and her family as they navigate this challenging journey far from home.
