We are so incredibly happy to introduce you to our 212th Leo’s Kid, the courageous Riya Kawar!
This bright 12-year-old girl, originally from Rapti-4, Dang, joined our family and received treatment for B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at Bharatpur Cancer Hospital. She’s found a comfortable and supportive home away from home at our C-Flat in Bharatpur, Chitwan and she stayed with us for 80 days.
Riya’s story is one of resilience. Her journey began with a persistent high fever that led her parents, Min Bahadur Kawar (a dedicated farmer) and Basanta Kawar, to seek medical help. After being referred from a local community hospital to Butwal due to critically low blood counts, she finally arrived at BPKMCH Bharatpur, where she received her diagnosis of blood cancer. Before her diagnosis, Riya was a diligent student attending Janta Ma Bi.
She finds joy in watching TV serials and playing badminton, even amidst her treatment journey. We are thrilled to share that Riya is now back in her home and in her maintenance phase.
The strength and spirit of children like Riya inspire us every day. They face immense challenges with incredible bravery, and it’s our privilege to support them and their families through every step of this long journey.
